MS Dhoni the finisher is back. The legendary Chennai Super Kings captain led from the front as CSK snapped their five-match losing streak with a five-wicket triumph over Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow on Monday.

Coming in at 111/5 in the 15th over while chasing 167, Dhoni received a thunderous reception from CSK fans at the Ekana Stadium. He immediately made his intentions clear by smashing Avesh Khan for two consecutive boundaries.

In the 17th over, Dhoni wowed the crowd with a one-handed six off Shardul Thakur, launching it over mid-wicket. He remained unbeaten on 26 off just 11 balls, guiding CSK to the target in 19.3 overs with five wickets in hand.

As for the game itself, Chennai Super Kings successfully chased down 167 with three balls remaining to end their run of losses in the Indian Premier League. Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants posted 166/7, with captain Rishabh Pant top-scoring with a 49-ball 63, and opener Mitchell Marsh contributing 30 off 25 balls.

In response, CSK got off to a decent start with Rachin Ravindra scoring 37 off 22 balls. Shivam Dube anchored the innings with an unbeaten 43 off 37 balls, while young debutant Shaik Rasheed chipped in with a promising 27 off 19. But it was Dhoni’s masterclass under pressure that sealed the win.
